FEMALE FASHION EDITORIAL LOOK BOOK in a Budget Location

When starting out as a photogrpaher you will find a raft of small brands and companies who wish to work with you. You will find to that on average they will expect to pay you way less than the normal rate as in their minds you dont have a provven track record of working with cleints or not that much experience yourself and can take advantage of you.

My advice would be look at each opportunity as just that. All of the large brands we know today are often from humble beginings and will have started off maybe with small budgets and great aspirations. Thats why I would say evaluate each chance you have to work on a project. Try to see where they are planning to get to in their marketing and business. Can you tell form their set up  if they are in this for a quick buck and does it all look planned and above board as these will be early indicators of do they take themselves seriously.

Not all clients starting out will have great budgets or know good locations and this i where you can step in and gain some kudos if you are able to get some great locations. If not then you have to be clever in how you help the client out. When they begin its obvious that they may not have the insight into theperfect location and will normally go for the easiest access or the cheapest options and in these circumstances you have to be light on your feet and able to adapt your style and location and just apply your own identity to the process and make the best. Alternatively you can walk away and wait for the next new client to come along. The truth is you have to make a living as a photographer and not always can everything just line up for you

OUR TEAM FOR THE FEW DAYS

  • Photographer: You can’t create a good photoshoot without an amazing artist ME.
  • Model: Our model was from Supa Model agency and was perfect for the more mature mens look that the cleint was after
  • Stylist: Depending on what you need and what you can afford, a stylist can be an incredibly valuable member of your team. We were ok here though as Adrian was the Tailor whose brand it was and he knew exaclty the outfits that he wanted on the  model and the mix that was needed. Nomrally we would work with a fashion stylist who would get together all if the looks required
  • Hair & Makeup: This was not really needed on this particular shoot as the model was able to keep his grooming under control
  • Brand Representative : For this shoot the brand representative was with us. He art directed his ideashowever, I was the creative director on the shoot collating location looks and shot ideas so I took this lead for the 3 days shooting
  • Producer or PA: The producer of this shoot was my own production company Nader Media we produce a few shoots and video concepts throught the year and did for this one
  • Location: If you’re shooting on-location, you may need to acquire permits for public spaces, rent a private dwelling, or get permission to shoot on hotel or other business property. We were ok on all locations apart from the London Underground wher we had permission in advance. Beaches were ook as hey were public places and Manchester e had already been in contact with the Venue – The refuge plus the streets of Manchester are always ok as they are more relaxed in the North of the UK
